McGuire Barber Design is a full service print design studio. We specialize in the design and production of books and publications.

Patrick Barber cut his design teeth at the Rocket magazine in Seattle, in the mid-1990s, amid such luminaries as Grant Alden, Stewart Williams, and Art Chantry. Patrick worked at the Rocket for five years as an editor, writer, designer, and typesetter, including two years as assistant art director. Later he worked at Marquand Books, and in the graphic design studio of SMWM, a San Francisco architecture firm.

Patrick has operated his own studio since 1997, and in 2001 was joined by his partner Holly McGuire. Holly brought a research and organizational background to the studio. She acts as business manager and heads up much of the production work. The studio also works with several freelancers and consultants.

In their free time, McGuire and Barber work on various volunteer projects, and explore the myriad ways of transporting their daughter from one place to the next without the use of a car.

So far, it's all going pretty well.
